The Futureworks Community Server
As we move in to a new academic year there are always some changes, and one of the biggest ones we're making this year is to the Futureworks Community Discord Server.
The current server has played a key role in the past few years in keeping students updated, providing a space to socialise during lockdowns, and enabling friendships and networking. During this time students have come and gone, and so have other servers with similar purposes.
After discussion with staff and students we have decided it's time to revamp the Community Server to help keep it functional and useful for everyone.
We have created a new server who's primary focus is on sharing information and updates, providing spaces for collaboration and networking, and helping you connect with other students.
We are also combining it with the Futureworks Skills Forum so that there is one centralised space to share job postings and other opportunities.
Whilst it may not look too different at first glance, you'll find the new server has a more refined list of channels and topics as well as being created in an updated server format which allows for things like listing and hosting events.
There are also some new rules for using it, which we hope you will embrace in order to help us maintain and safe, friendly and welcoming space for all students:
- You must set your server nickname as your real name
- You must self-assign your course as a role
- You must self-assign your year of entry to Futureworks as a role
- You must follow the server code of conduct
- Anyone who does not follow these rules will be removed from the server
We want the server to be a space where you feel free to discuss anything that interests you, reach out to staff when you have questions, and engage with other students who share similar interests. We encourage you to use it, and let us know if there is anything you feel is missing that you would like us to add.
